Who's Purchasing Online?

As online shopping becomes more and more secure and within the normal realm of people's shopping habits, more companies and products will use the web as the vehicle for buying products and services. With the latest news reports, a
ccording to WSL Strategic Research, shoppers between the ages of 35 and 54 (56%) say they shopped more online in 2002 than in 2001, compared to people between the ages of 18 and 34 (42%) and those who are between the ages of 55 and 70 (50%).

From eMarketer,
WSL surveyed 652 household shoppers in August 2001 (men and women) and then 200 additional female household shoppers in November 2001 and from that concluded that a majority of these shoppers, with an annual income of between $45,000 and $70,000 (55%), and those making over $70,000 (50%) say they shop more online in 2002 than they did in 2001. WSL also finds that 42% of those making between $25,000 and $45,000 say they shopped more online in 2002 than one year ago.

From these simple statistics, the vehicle of online shopping is still on the incline. Companies vary on the decisive factors that have caused a slight up-turn in the general economy, but
eMarketer believes in 2002, 41 million internet users will be between the ages of 18 and 34, 51.3 million will be between the ages of 35 and 54 and 16.2 million will be age 55 and over. Online shopping is quickly becoming "normal" to people of all age groups. Make sure your company offers a portion of it's business and services online because that's where people are looking.
