Empire's Information Technology Services

Internet Setup:
Cable Modem, DSL, T1, T-Speed Configuration and recovery after initial installation by the service provider.

After the Phone Company, DSL Provider, Cable Company or Service Provider installs your connection to the Internet it is up to your company to connect it to the rest of your network. Depending on your particular service configuring your network may involve static IP address or DHCP, you may have multiple static addresses or need to use NAT (Network Address Translation) to share a single IP address, you will need to connect the cabling to a hub or switch, what ever you circumstances we can help you get configured to make the best use of the service you have.

Initial Analysis and Configuration of the Network:

Evaluate and configure network with the appropriate software or hardware for internal and external security
No company wants the entire world to have access to their data. Because of this, your network and individual computers need to be setup with security measures that allow you to control who has access to what internally as well as externally (the internet) while allowing you to get to the information you need on your own network as well as the internet.

Configure Network with proper Topology, Protocol (TCP/IP, NetBEUI, IPX/SPX) and Network Services
Setting up your network with the proper NIC (Network interface Card) Cabling (Coax, Cat 3, Cat 5) etc. will give your network stability, as well as functionality and efficiency. Using the right Protocol, and only the right Protocol, will make your network more stable and run smoother. Changing from a Peer to Peer network to a Server Based network can not only make it more efficient but give you functionality you didn't have before. The configuration options are virtually limitless. We can help you find the one right for you.

Setup and Configure Routers, Switches, Hubs/Switching Hubs and Firewalls
Configuring these devices properly can not only give you functionality, connecting all of your computers and peripherals, but make the best use of your bandwidth while keeping your network secure.

Test and Route Cabling properly
Bad Connector, Plugs, Hub ports or Cabling can cause intermittent or downed servers or work stations.

Analyze and Configure Network Server/Servers
The list of things that can be setup wrong, misconfigured, not installed or just missing can be extremely long. User Groups, Administrators, Users, Permissions, Computers, Printers, File and Folder Shares and Network Services are just a few of the things that need to be Analyzed and Configured properly for a network to be efficient and secure.

Connect and Configure Individual Computers
This involves setting up workstation with the proper OS (Operating System), Application Software, Data Files, Connection to the Network, as well as properly installing and configuring the computer and peripherals.

Setup and Configure Backup System
Unless you don't mind working on a 200 ft. high wire with no net, you need to have some kind of backup system in place to protect your "Priceless Data" from hardware failure, power spikes, electrical failure, improperly installed software, poorly written software, well intentioned but misinformed users or the increasingly prolific VIRUS.

Monthly-Computer/Network Service:

Evaluate and Maintain Network Server:
- Evaluate Server ( PDC/BDC if applicable ) for proper configuration and efficient operation
- Add / Delete Applications as needed. Evaluate and Configure Network Services if needed
- Configure Domain or Workgroup
- Setup User Groups and Assign proper Permissions
- Setup New Users
- Setup File Shares / Printer Shares
- Update and Scan Server for Viruses

Backup Network System and Data Files:

PC/Mac Computer Maintenance:

- Cleanup hard drive
- As time goes on and Programs are installed and uninstalled the files in your system folders build up. (Erase unused programs and data files)
- Update Drivers for peripherals i.e. printers, video cards, sound cards, monitor, motherboard, scanner, removable storage devices (Zip/Jaz/Syquest/ etc.)
- Update Operating System and Application software i.e.. Service Release Packs, Bug Fixes, Patches, Upgrades
- Clean Registry of unwanted, unneeded and harmful entries (Repartition and Reformat Hard Drive if unable to resolve conflicts)
- Update Virus definitions and Scan for Viruses

Train users on appropriate software and hardware:
Whether it's your System Administrator or the Users at the workstation, not being able to fully and efficiently use the software and hardware you have invested so much money into is one of the biggest short comings in today's Local Area Networks. We can help you and your staff get up to speed with the latest hardware and software.
